In July 2005 Damianek, 7 years old, was knocked out by a car. As a result he suffered serious injuries to his brain and cranium and broke his thighbone. He requires constant supervision by a psychologist and doctors in a neurological rehabilitation centre. Moreover, financial situation of his family (three younger siblings and unemployed parents) is very difficult and the benefits received from welfare are not enough to cover the cost of treatment.
