As a result of an unlucky sequence of events, Dominka, who was only 19 at that time, was severely injured in a car accident in which she participated as a passenger. Due to serious injuries she was comatose for about 8 weeks. She woke up in a state termed "conscious without logical contact". She was also suffering from a severe spastic tetraplegy.
Thanks to a great love and many sacrifices of her nearest and dearest Dominika, who has always been a happy person, is now able to recognise her friends and smile when something amusing is going on. When she feels pain she sufferes and expresses her irritation. However, she is unable to speak, write, nod or point at things. Some time ago she started to "babble", which, according to a speech therapist specialising in neurological problems, is the first sign that her speech apparatus starts to amend.
At the moment, the only chance for Dominika to come back to an independent life is an intensive rehabilitation and constant brain stimulation supervised by a specialist. Without that her chances to ever live a normal life again are almost none. However, this requires substantial amount of money, which Dominika's family and friends are unable to obtain.
