Małgosia was a passenger of a car which on July 22, 2007 participated in an accident. A car driven by a reckless driver cut in on the vehicle with Małgosia inside and the law-abiding driver had to give way in order to save his life. However, as a result of a sudden defensive manouevre the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a tree.

Małgosia was transported straight to a hospital in a critical condition. She was hospitalised on a ward specialised in an anaesthesiology and an intensive care ward. Małgosia suffred the following injuries: a massive injury to many organs, circulatory and respiratory problems, complex spine fracture in a section C1 combined with a vertebral subluxation of section C1-C2,  epidural haematoma  on the left side of the brain, left clavicle fracture. Apart from that Małgosia suffered open dislocation of left ankle combined with a shin injury, injury to the left lung and quadriparesis. Her left leg had to be amputated during two surgeries. All these injuries left Małgosia severely disabled.   
She is now completely dependent on others and their constant care. But this young woman is still full of hope and self- confidence and she decided to prove, even to herself that "I'm not going to become a vegetable, I won't give up without a fight, I promise!" She has already decided to resume her studies, even though the tragic accident happened less than 2 years ago. Since her own body is still deficient, she has to use various medical equippment. The girl's admirable attitude and her optimistic approach to the life she managed to save make the rehabilitation progress with every passing day.
