On May 5, 2004 Sławek suddenly collapsed while driving a car. As a result this robust man became a victim of a road accident caused neither by him nor by anyone else. He suffered very serious injuries which left him in a state of prolonged and severe disability.

Sławek, who is now 30, has to face not only his disability, but also extremely poor housing conditions because he is deprived of basic sanitary facilities necessary for normal life. He was granted the meagre PLN 778.32 in benefits, which is not enough to cover the cost of basic needs, let alone further treatment, rehabilitation, necessary medicines and orthopaedic equipment.
